Starfish

Habitat: 

Starfish inhabit a wide range of marine environments around the world, from tropical coral reefs to the cold depths of the ocean. They are predominantly found in shallow coastal waters, where they can thrive in various substrates like rocky shores, sandy seabeds, and seagrass meadows. Some species of starfish prefer intertidal zones, where they can withstand exposure to air during low tide. Others dwell in deeper waters, sometimes at depths of several thousand feet. Their distribution is influenced by factors such as water temperature, salinity, and availability of food sources. Starfish are known to be opportunistic feeders, preying on a variety of marine organisms like mollusks, small fish, and algae. Behaviours:

1. Regeneration: One of the most remarkable behaviors of starfish is their ability to regenerate lost limbs or even an entire body. When a starfish loses an arm due to predation or injury, it can grow a new arm in its place, showcasing an incredible regenerative capacity.
2. Feeding and Digestion: Starfish are voracious predators, using their tube feet and suction cups to grip onto prey like mollusks and bivalves. They extend their stomachs outside their bodies to envelop and digest their prey externally, before retracting the stomach back into their bodies to complete digestion.
3. Movement: Starfish employ a unique method of locomotion, using their tube feet and a system of water-filled canals to move. They glide gracefully across surfaces, and some species can even move rapidly to escape predators or find food.
