As the BrainArt Exhibition Launch for 2012 approaches fast, it occurred to me that explaining once more the relationship between pleasure and brain could be worthwhile. One of the best ways to gain a deeper understanding of what this relationship means and why it is important to enhance our living, is through seeking the views of others.
Whatever our beliefs and views are, they become more meaningful when they are acknowledged and shared by those interested in what we do.
As I was thinking about this, I bumped into my colleague David McCubbin, an Australian Logie Award Winner, who will play the character of Daele Pendragon on Friday 19th of October during the Awards Night. David is not only a well-known actor in the Sydney acting scene, but also a talented writer, director and producer.
We spoke about the significance of identifying what causes pleasure in our lives, how to nurture the pleasurable moments and also how to moderate them; as pleasure in excess can easily take our brains out of balance.
We also discussed that too many choices or too much focus on external sources of pleasure seem to work against the ability of our minds to notice the small pleasures that surround us. Paying attention to these moments can help us transform our less positive emotional states in a matter of seconds, if we let them work their magic.
Our Brain Art Project is now coming to an end, after months of work and dedication. We feel proud of what we have achieved and the talented and awesome people we met along the way.
Our project may be simple in nature but it makes us happy. We like to share this happiness with others. We look forward to meeting you at Verge Gallery, University of Sydney, this coming Friday between 5 pm and 9 pm. It will be a pleasure.
