5 Reasons To Expand Your Knowledge of Neuroleadership
You’ve been reading about the latest neuroscience findings applied to leadership and you’re now getting yourself ready to create a brain-friendly workplace.
You may have heard about the and you are curious to explore more. You may be wondering what business outcomes might your organisation achieve, and what business issues will this model help you address? To help you expand your vision on this topic, let's examine five reasons relevant in today's work environment.
Reason No. 1:
Helping Millennials Realise Their Full Potential
Millennials have enormous potential. As a group, they are difficult to define and hard to engage. However, most of them are values-driven. How can you help these workers and potential leaders realise their potential?
The field of ‘neuroleadership’ holds the answers. It's important to provide developmental tools and programs that align with the unique sensibilities of this generation. Boundaries between work and personal life are often blurred.
Create an environment where the values of developing leaders are respected. Utilise their love of technology by leveraging it for learning. Allow them to cultivate a balance between work and personal life which includes the importance of understanding their brains and bodies to optimise their performance.
Reason No. 2
Inspiring, Motivating And Engage Employees In An Innovation-based Economy
Millennials now outnumber all other workers. These men and women are starting to become the new leaders and managers as older workers retire. Ask yourself if your organisation has made plans to equip these future leaders to be successful.
Neuroscience has taught us that new thoughts are not possible in a brain that is rushing from the next email to the next meeting to the next flight. It's important to reward inquisitiveness and create the right conditions for innovation.
The i4 Neuroleader Model teaches you how high levels of innovation can result in proactivity, faster solutions to problems, and a progressive environment. Demonstrating emotional intelligence, integrity and respect is key to inspire and motivate performance.
Reason No. 3:
Addressing The Needs For Greater Levels Of Performance, Collaboration, Innovation, And Agility In A Business Climate That Expects You To Do More With Less
These four words should sound familiar. A global research study performed by About my Brain Institute's Founder and CEO Silvia Damiano identified performance, collaboration, innovation, and agility as the four competencies of the 21st century.
The focuses on the development of these four core competencies and equips leaders with the skills to drive higher levels of all four in their teams, and ultimately, the entire organisation.
In addition, the teachings of the i4 Neuroleader Model are based on the latest research in multiple disciplines including neuroscience, neurogastronterology, sleep, nutrition, mindfulness, body movement, design thinking, strategy and positive psychology.
With the emergence of brain science, there is enough evidence to suggest that the brain has a lot more to do with reshaping behaviours than we may have originally thought.

Reason No. 4:
Including The Issue Of Equality In Leadership
It is important to engage in a conversation about gender and racial equality in leadership selection, development, and advancement. Equality is an important issue to many organisations, especially those in the technology sector, where the inequities are most profound.
The equality issue is complicated and will require time to see substantial changes. A good start is to examine the leadership model and the lens through which leadership success is evaluated. Leadership models of the Industrial Age of the past were biased towards left-brained and task/goal oriented competencies.
Now, in the Imagination Age, we need a leadership model that is more balanced and free of bias. A model that teaches us the skills that allow for an individual to maximise the potential of his or her brain.
Equality will be accomplished in a workplace when people are encouraged to make healthy lifestyle choices regarding nutrition, exercise, and sleep. Engaging in activities that expand the brain's natural ability to evolve and learn new ways of thinking, known as neuroplasticity, is crucial. Developing drive, imagination, influence and intuition will be required for success in today's innovation era.
Reason No. 5:
Sustaining Change While Still Improving Business Results
Intrinsic, or internal motivation is the best way to change behaviour. Learning will have a more meaningful impact when it is relevant to the individual. You're more likely to remember and apply what you have learned when you find it interesting and you can relate it to your life experiences.
A personal leadership model means that everyone in the organisation takes responsibility for demonstrating the skills of a leader, even if they manage people or not. Each person is equipped to lead because they acquire learning that focuses on developing these skills from day one.
The equally applies to work and personal life.
It is both a leadership and personal effectiveness model that addresses the need to be inspired and motivated to achieve greater levels of performance, collaboration, innovation, and agility.
Learning about ‘neuroleadership’ or ‘brain-based leadership’ and how to apply the i4 Neuroleader Model & Methodology to your personal and professional life will help you address the issues mentioned above.
For your organisation to be successful in this fluid business environment, it is clear we need to change the way we look at leadership and become acquainted with new models and frameworks that can help us get to where we want to be.
